Terms of Use

Last updated: August 14, 2026

These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Weavara LLC. We've written them in plain language on purpose, but they are still a contract. If your organization needs to discuss modified terms before use, contact support@storyaudit.app.

1. Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of StoryAudit (the "Service"), available at storyaudit.app, operated by Weavara LLC ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account, starting a free trial, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of a company or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and "you" refers to both you and that organization.

2. Eligibility

The Service is designed for business and professional use. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service, and if you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use it only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. What StoryAudit does

StoryAudit is a browser-based tool that reads Articulate Storyline (.story) course files and XLIFF translation exports you provide, and generates reports: comparisons between two versions of a course, health checks, quiz answer keys, text exports, media inventories, translation checks, and related audits. For XLIFF files, it can also, at your option, generate a machine-drafted translation for segments that aren't yet translated. All parsing, checking, and translation happens locally in your browser using JavaScript: your files are read directly from your device and are never uploaded to our servers or any third party as part of that processing.

4. Accounts, trials, and billing

5. Your license to use the Service

Subject to these Terms and (after any trial) an active subscription, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your internal business or personal purposes. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by us. This license does not permit you to resell the Service, offer it to third parties as your own hosted product, or use it to build a competing product.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

7. Your content

You retain all rights to the course files, translation files, reports, and any other content you create or process using StoryAudit. Because file processing happens locally in your browser, we don't receive, store, or claim any rights to the contents of your .story or XLIFF files, or the reports and translation drafts generated from them. You are solely responsible for the files you load into StoryAudit and represent that you have all rights necessary to process them. See our Privacy Policy for more on what account-level data we do handle.

8. Machine-drafted translations

Translation Check can optionally generate draft translations using a machine-translation model built into your browser (currently the Translator capability in Chrome and Edge, provided by Google or Microsoft respectively). By using this feature, you acknowledge and agree that:

9. Our intellectual property

The Service itself (including its software code, design, report layouts, text, graphics, and the StoryAudit name and logo) is owned by Weavara LLC or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited license in Section 5, nothing in these Terms grants you any right, title, or interest in the Service. You may not use the StoryAudit name or logo without our prior written permission, except to truthfully identify the tool by name.

10. Feedback

If you send us suggestions, ideas, or other feedback about the Service, you agree we may use it freely and without restriction or compensation to you, and that doing so doesn't create any confidentiality obligation on our part. This applies only to your feedback about the Service, never to the contents of your course files.

11. Trademark and affiliation disclaimer

StoryAudit is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Articulate Global, LLC. Articulate, Storyline, and Articulate 360 are trademarks of Articulate Global, LLC. Any reference to those names is solely to describe the file format and software StoryAudit is built to work with.

12. Third-party services

Parts of the Service depend on third-party providers. For example, sign-in and subscription billing are provided by Clerk under its own terms and policies. The Service and our site may also link to third-party websites or resources. We are not responsible for the content, terms, or practices of third-party services, and your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

13. Service availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service reliably available but don't guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be modified, updated, or occasionally unavailable for maintenance without advance notice, and features may be added, changed, or removed over time. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages of our hosting or authentication providers, network failures, and similar events. Some features depend on capabilities provided by your browser vendor (for example, on-device translation models); those features may change or become unavailable if the browser vendor changes or withdraws the underlying capability, and this is not a failure of the Service. If we ever discontinue the Service entirely, we will make reasonable efforts to give paying subscribers advance notice and a pro-rata refund of prepaid, unused subscription fees.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and without any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. StoryAudit's reports (health checks, answer keys, diffs, and similar output) and machine-drafted translations (see Section 8) are decision-support tools, not a substitute for professional review. You remain responsible for independently verifying the accuracy and completeness of your own course content, and any machine-drafted translation, before publishing it, especially for compliance or safety-critical training. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or business opportunity, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose or US $50. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, and some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

16. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify Weavara LLC and its owners, employees, and agents against claims, damages, and reasonable expenses (including attorneys' fees) brought by a third party arising out of: (a) the course files, translation files, and other content you process with the Service; (b) your use, publication, or distribution of any report, export, or machine-drafted translation generated by the Service, including any use of a machine-drafted translation without the human review required by Section 8; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any law or third-party right. You must promptly notify us of any claim subject to this section. We may, at our own expense, assume the exclusive defense of any matter subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with our defense.

17. Termination

You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for accounts that violate these Terms, including attempts to circumvent billing or abuse the Service. Upon termination, your license to use the Service ends, but any reports, history, or preferences stored in your own browser remain on your device and under your control. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, and 20) will survive.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will make reasonable efforts to provide additional notice (such as an email to your account address or an in-app notice) before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms; if you don't agree to a change, your remedy is to stop using the Service and cancel your subscription.

19. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Before filing any formal claim, you agree to first contact us at support@storyaudit.app and give us 30 days to try to resolve the dispute informally. Most issues can be sorted out this way. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state or federal courts located in Ohio, and each party consents to personal jurisdiction there. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court where permitted.
